Chief Warrant Officer Eric L Hamm
Chief Warrant Officer Eric L. Hamm serves as the Command Chief Warrant Officer (CCWO) of the Maryland Army National Guard (MDARNG). He is the Senior Warrant Officer Advisor for the State, responsible to the Army Commander for all matters pertaining to policies, programs, and actions concerning Warrant Officers. Topics include professional development, promotions, assignments, incentives, moral discipline, performance, strength, recruiting and retention.
CW5 Hamm is a native of Silver Springs, Maryland and enlisted in the Army in August 1985. He attended Basic and Advanced Individual Training as a Pershing Missile crewman at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. At the completion of his training, he was stationed with the 56 th Field Artillery Brigade in the Federal Republic of Germany. After his initial enlistment, he attended the Counterintelligence Agent course at Fort Huachuca, Arizona and was assigned to the 513 th Military Intelligence Battalion, at Fort Monmouth, New Jersey.
In 1990 he was selected for Initial Entry Rotary-Wing training. After the completion of his flight training, he was assigned to the 2 nd Infantry Division, Republic of Korea before being assigned to the 25 th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. In 1995 he left active duty and joined the Delaware Army National Guard. In 2020 he joined the Maryland Army National Guard.
CW5 Hamm’s deployments include Operation Uphold Democracy and Iraqi Freedom.
His awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (Oak Leaf Cluster), Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal (Oak Leaf Clusters), Army Achievement Medal (Oak Leaf Cluster), Good Conduct Medal, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Army Overseas Service Ribbon, Armed Forces Reserve Medal and Army Reserve Component Overseas Training Ribbon. He is a Master Aviator and an Air Assault graduate.
CW5 Hamm has a Master of Science from Wilmington University and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Delaware. His military education includes all levels of the Warrant Officer Education System. He is an Aviation Safety Officer and Instructor Pilot. He is qualified in the UH-1 Iroquois, OH-58 Kiowa, UH-60 Blackhawk, and the LUH-72 Lakota helicopters.
He has been a resident of Delaware since 1995 and is married to his wife, Janette. They have two children, Alexis, and Brayden.
