How to Apply​

How To Apply and What To Expect During The Application Process

Classes for the Maryland Freestate ChalleNGe Academy start yearly in January and July.

 
1.  Parents/guardians must register their teenager for an information session if they are under 18; all 18-year-olds can register themselves.

2.  Please visit the homepage and click on "Register for Info Session"​ at the top of the page

3.  Select the date you wish to attend with your child.

4.  Follow the instructions on the Registration Form and click submit.

5.  The participant and parents/guardians MUST attend the information session together unless the teenager is 18.

6.  Parents/guardians and the participant must arrive on time.

7.  All participants will be checked in before the session begins.

8.  If the participant does not respond during check-ins, he or she will not receive recognition for attending the session.

9.  Latecomers and no-shows must register for future information session dates.

10. An application to attend the academy will be provided following the session.

11. Freestate ChalleNGe Academy will not accept applications from participants who did not check in before the beginning of the session.

12. After attending the full session, you and your child can submit the application online.

13. Freestate ChalleNGe Academy will schedule interviews for applicants after receiving the application.

14. Applications will be reviewed by a selection committee.

15. A Freestate ChalleNGe Academy staff member will contact the parents/guardians with the status of the application and next steps.

16. Should the applicant receive a Pre-Accepted Letter, the parent/guardian will be notified of a pre-in-processing date and where to report.

17. Submit all program-requested documents (i.e., Notarized Admissions forms, Mentor Applications, Medical Forms, MD picture ID, etc.) on their scheduled "pre-in-processing" date(s).

18. Failure to submit the requested documents could result in the application being delayed or denied.

19. The Final Acceptance Letter arrives within 21 business days (if not before) after ALL documents have been submitted.

20. Status will change from "Applicant" to "Candidate".
