Commanding General of the Maryland Defense Force

MDDF Commanding General 

Brigadier General (MD) Gregory J. Juday was selected as the Commanding General of the Maryland Defense Force on 1 April, 2020.  He has been in the Maryland Defense Force since 2014 and prior to his promotion served as Commander, 121st Engineering Regiment.  BG (MD) Juday was commissioned as a Distinguished Graduate through the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corp program at Samford University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics. He also has a Master of Science degree in Systems Management from the State University of New York at Binghamton and a Master of Strategic Studies from Air University.  BG (MD) Juday is an in-resident graduate of the Air Force’s Squadron Officer School, Air Command and Staff College, and Air War College.  He is also a graduate of Defense Acquisition University’s Advanced Program Management Course.

BG (MD) Juday spent 26 years on active duty with the United States Air Force in a variety of acquisition positions.  He was the System Architect for Military Satellite Communications (MILSATCOM) Terminals and Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS), ​program manager for Advanced Medium Range Air to Air Missile (AMRAAM) Advance Projects, and Advanced Computer Technology project officer designing and developing future systems for the war fighter.  BG (MD) Juday was also assigned as an Arms Control Officer in Europe managing and monitoring international agreements.  In 2003 to 2004, he was the Director of Advanced Concepts for the Missile Defense Agency.  His Air Force career culminated as the Program Executive Office for the Defense Commissary Agency at Fort Lee VA.  After retirement, BG (MD) Juday entered civilian government service and served in that capacity until September 2019.

In his current civilian capacity, Mr. Juday is an Advanced Engineer and Senior Advisor for JRC Integrated Systems, a, Service-Disabled, Veteran Owned Small Business company focused on advanced professional engineering and integrated services.  Although supporting a variety of federal programs, JRC specializes in solving the nation’s most challenging goals of strategic defense and deterrence.  JRC’s core values of family, excellence, and integrity reflect Mr. Juday’s values demonstrated throughout his career.​

​BG (MD) Juday’s awards and decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters, and Joint Service Commendation Medal.   He was also awarded the Office of the Secretary of Defense Identification Badge.  BG (MD) Juday resides in Newburg, MD with his wife Colonel Lesa Juday, USAF (retired).
