Brigadier General Edward S. Jones

Brig. Gen. Edward S. Jones is the Assistant Adjutant General for Air, Maryland National Guard, Baltimore, Maryland.

As Assistant Adjutant General for Air, he serves as the Governor and Adjutant General of Maryland's principal advisor on matters pertaining to the Maryland Air National Guard. General Jones also serves as the Commander of the Maryland Air National Guard, commanding an authorized strength of 1,564 officers and airmen with 21 A-10 aircraft. He is responsible to the Adjutant General for the overall management of the flying program and ensuring the units of the Maryland Air National Guard are organized, equipped, and trained to support federal and state missions.

General Edward S. Jones enlisted in the Maryland Air National Guard in 1984 as an A-10 Crew Chief achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant while obtaining a Community College of the Air Force Degree in Aircraft Maintenance Technology. General Jones was commissioned at the Academy of Military Science in April of 1991. After graduating Undergraduate Pilot Training, he returned to the 104th Fighter Squadron and worked in many positions including: Scheduling, Training, and Standardization/Evaluation. General Jones has deployed three times to Aviano Air Base, Italy for Operation Deny Flight; twice to Al Jabar Air Base, Kuwait for Operation Southern Watch; three times to Afghanistan for Operation Enduring Freedom; and once to Iraq for Operation Iraqi Freedom. He upgraded to Instructor Pilot in 1995 and continues in that role throughout his flying career. General Jones has been a Command Post Officer, Flight Commander, Assistant Director of Operations, and Operations Support Flight Commander. After a short tour at the Maryland Joint Operations Center during Hurricane Katrina, he returned to the Joint Operations Center in 2006 for 18 months on an NGB funded Operation Jump Start tour. 
In 2009 General Jones was selected as the 175th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron Commander. In 2010 he served as the 455th Deputy Maintenance Group Commander at Kandahar Air Base, Afghanistan. The 455th Maintenance Group consisted of 72 aircraft and over 700 personnel. In the Fall of 2010, General Jones became the 175th Deputy Maintenance Group Commander and was selected as Maintenance Group Commander in July of 2012.  In January 2018 he moved to Joint Force Headquarters where he served as T32 Deputy Dual Status Commander for Vigilant Guard 18-4. (MD) In January 2018, he served as the Joint Force Headquarters Chief of Staff.​​​
